Federation of Middlesex Sports

2024

Below is a brief overview of what we have planned at SJP in partnership with the Middlesex Federation of Sports Clubs FOR 2024.

Events at Silver Jubilee Park Stadium in partnership with the SJP Charitable Foundation.

 Community Unity

There are two football tournaments planned to promote awareness regarding violence against women and girls (VAWG). These are specifically aimed at female secondary school pupils from Brent, Harrow and Barnet.

The schools are identified by the Met police to establish those who are potentially most at risk and are invited to take part in the tournament.

There will be exhibitors in the club with females not only from various walks of police, emergency services and military life. We will also have people from Fearless.org, Abianda and UCFB. We will also be running self-defence inputs in the form of boxing sessions in a sectioned of portion of the club.

The coordinator is PC Ben Eynon the Youth Engagement Officer for Brent Barnet and Harrow.

 Dates TBC

 Brent Primary Schools Festivals

Each year we invite local Primary schools to take part in fun football festivals to encourage healthy lifestyles.

Working with the Brent Primary school’s sports partnership we identify those year groups that wouldn’t normally represent their school or be given an opportunity to take part. We also encourage both boys and girls to play in teams together and also select children that would most benefit from physical activity.

There are two festivals planned and it is being coordinated by John Creith with UCFB supplying teams of students to set up and run the day.

 Dates TBC

Brent Well Being Games  – Mental Health

This is specifically aimed at those who are dealing with mental health issues. There are a number of benefits where physical activity helps how we feel mentally.

Teams from a variety of organisations across the borough will attempt a broad range of activities to encourage more people to take part in regular physical exercise. The games are also helping people to socialise and work together in teams.

Coordinator is John Creith again supported by UCFB.

Date TBC

 Mini World Cup

A football festival to celebrate the tenth anniversary of us owning SJP. Brent is one of the most diverse boroughs in the country and we will invite different communities from the borough to take part.

It will be an exchange of cultures to create awareness and understanding of each other.  Twenty-four teams, with equal numbers of boys and girl’s teams, will play in this fun festival with all teams having a chance of success. Exhibitions including dance and talks will help people understand and appreciate the different the different cultures.

Coordinator John Creith assisted by UCFB.

About the Federation of Middlesex Sport

The Federation of Middlesex & City of London Sports was launched in 1988 at the first ever Middlesex Sports Awards by Sue Barker, the BBC’s former female sports anchor.

It was founded by Russell Grant, the Lord of Ashford in Staines Middlesex, Fred Griggs and Sir Peter Yarranton.

The Federation recognises the historic boundaries of the County of Middlesex, twixt Thames, Colne, Lea and Grimsdyke.

The FMS has since gone from strength to strength in its own very unique way, celebrated its 21st birthday in 2009, providing needed sporting opportunities within the county.

The FMS has had associations with many sports within the county in the past.

We are keen to renew or begin an involvement in sports in our great county.

So if your sport is not already mentioned then please contact us to help us grow your FMS.
